Inflatable sessions
Splash! Inflatable sessions: Want to take the little ones on a real adventure? Let them tackle our huge inflatable courses on Saturdays from 12pm to 4pm in both our large and teaching pools!
Sports hall sessions: Like the sound of our inflatable sessions but would rather stay on dry land? For only £6 we’re hosting inflatable sessions in our large sports hall on Mondays, Tuesdays and Sundays from 10am to 3:30pm.
Soft Play
Soft Play at Gateshead Leisure Centre
Looking for a fun and safe space for your little ones to burn off some energy? Our Soft Play area is perfect for children aged 1 to 12 years and is open 7 days a week from 8:00am to 8:00pm.
Session Duration: 1.5 hours
Supervision: All children must be supervised by an adult at a maximum ratio of 3 children per adult.
How to Book:
Sessions can be booked in person at our reception desk. Feel free to call our reception team on 0191 250 5066 to check how busy the soft play area is.
Party Bookings:
Please check our Facebook page for any changes to availability, as the soft play may occasionally be closed for private party bookings during advertised hours.

Learn to Swim programme with Swimfun North East
All swimming lessons are provided by Swimfun who work in partnership with Gateshead Leisure Centre, providing swimming lessons for all ages and abilities, from baby and toddler classes to pre-competitive training for the advanced swimmer. Adult classes and 121 tuition are also available upon request.
Swimtots 0 – 2 Year Olds
Through play and songs this programme teaches parents/carers how to support and develop their little ones safely in water. Swimming is a wonderful way of bonding with your little ones whilst introducing floating and kicking on backs and tummies, reaching for toys, aquatic breathing, submerging and personal survival.
This is a structured scheme running from Step 1 – 6 and little ones receive certificates at the end of each term to recognise their achievements.
Swimtoddlers 2 – 4 Year Olds
This programme provides another opportunity to swim with your little ones, preparing them to start the Swim England framework. In addition to kicking, floating, submerging and aquatic breathing little ones will be introduced to swimming on their tummies and backs and how to be safe around water.
This is a structured scheme running from Level 1 – 6 and little ones receive certificates at the end of each term to recognise their achievements.
For children aged 4 years + we follow the Swim England stages, starting at Stage 1 for complete beginners who learn to swim independently and offering up to Stage 10 and advanced training techniques beyond that. Children receive awards at the end of each term.
Adults – we provide group tuition for the complete beginner and also those wanting to learn more advanced skills and techniques.
121 Lessons – whilst our group sizes are small, we do also provide 121 tuition for children aged 4 years+ and adults.
